Setting a New Standard in Safety

MPG Pipeline Contractors, LLC’s commitment to safety is a top priority in our day-to-day operations. Jobsite compliance and promoting an incident- and injury-free work environment helps us to maintain our strong safety record. Through the efforts of our dedicated and experienced Health, Safety and Environmental (HS&E) team, MPG is actively setting a new standard for safety in pipeline construction.

Our companywide safety initiatives include comprehensive HS&E management documentation and standards; a drug and alcohol testing program; an extensive subcontractor prequalification process; and onsite safety coordination that monitors and reviews jobsite requirements and individual performance. This commitment to safety has resulted in fewer total recordable incidents.

MPG is a member of ISNetworld (#400-143127), to continually ensure all HS&E procedures meet or exceed industry and client standards. MPG also has master trainers, assessment proctors and performance evaluators certified through the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), along with performance evaluators certified through Veriforce on staff.

Jobsite Safety

Our HS&E department is actively involved in ensuring all federal, state, local and client requirements are followed on each and every jobsite. Our HS&E department consists of a full-time director along with skilled field coordinators on hand at each jobsite.

MPG is committed to the health and safety of all our employees, our subcontractors and the communities where we work. All project teams conduct daily safety meetings and discuss weekly safety training topics. We actively promote safe behavior – both on and off the jobsite – through our HS&E programs and processes including a written policies and procedures manual, an employee orientation process, pre-employment drug testing, safety training programs, an alcohol misuse prevention plan and an anti-drug program. In addition to ongoing safety training, we strictly enforce DOT-approved substance abuse and alcohol abuse policies and all applicable OSHA safety programs.

Drug and Alcohol Testing Program

MPG performs pre-employment drug testing and random drug and alcohol testing to ensure a safety and drug- and alcohol-free work environment. We adhere to a zero-tolerance policy for the use of prohibited substances through:

  • Pre-employment testing
  • Periodic random testing
  • Testing for reasonable cause
  • Post-accident testing
  • Government contractual requirements

DOT and OSHA Compliance

In an effort to protect employees, the environment and communities where we work, MPG adheres to the United States Department of Transportation (US DOT) Operator Qualification Regulations (OQ) found in 49 CFR Part 192 Subpart N and Part 195 Subpart G. The company also abides by 49 CFR Parts 40 and 199, which pertains to MPG DOT Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Policies. These policies have been approved by the National Compliance Management Services (NCMS).
